SINGLE DREAMSCREENS

Single Dreamscreens are ideal for nice entry doors, entries between garages and the home, sliding doors, and many other applications.  We manufacture both a standard and custom height Dreamscreen, so we can accommodate nearly any opening. After reviewing the information on this page, select standard (most doors) or custom for further details.

Handing

Because of the exclusive deep guide rail design, which virtually eliminates wind blow-out and increases strength, the single Dreamscreen must be either a left-hand or right-hand unit.  We follow the door industry standards.  See the diagrams below. Click here for more on handing.

Type of Mount

Part of the patented Dreamscreen design is the ability to mount it either on the face of the existing doorframe molding (face mount), or on the inside of the door frame (flush mount).  Single doors are more commonly face mounted. Every Dreamscreen is delivered with parts for either type of mount. See the diagrams below.

Dreamscreens can be installed in two basic ways:

bullet

Face Mounted: (By far the most common method) where the housing and jamb are mounted on top of the door frame molding.  This type of installation does not require the existing doorway to be square, so it is often the best choice. See the molding diagram for detail on the face mount installation.

bullet

Flush Mounted: rails and housing are mounted to the interior portion of the entry way.  In this installation, if the door opening is not square, shimming may be required to give the Dreamscreen optimal performance.  If the doorway is narrow, typically less than about 32", the combined width of the Dreamscreen housing and pull rail (about 3 1/2") will use too much of the door width. Flush mount installations are slightly less noticeable, but then again, the Dreamscreen is already practically invisible when not in use!  In many flush mounts, the lower guide rail will be sitting on top of the door threshold, making a threshold a good idea (see thresholds).

Handing and Mounting Diagrams

The four combinations of handing and mounts are depicted below (TOP VIEW, looking down), with the Dreamscreen shown in red.  The housing is the square red box, with the pull rail slightly extended. Each of the four pictures shows both an in-swinging and out-swinging door. Click here for more on handing.
